Areas of Operation and Regional Context

The Community Empowerment Hub (CEH) is a Horn of Africa based non-profit organization that is deeply committed to transforming the lives of individuals and communities in the arid and semi-arid regions of Somalia and Kenya. These areas are some of the most vulnerable in the country, facing a unique set of challenges that include:

Climatic Vulnerabilities:

The regions are prone to drought, water scarcity, and desertification, exacerbated by climate change. Recurrent droughts often lead to crop failure, loss of livestock, and food insecurity.

Conflict:

These areas have also experienced intercommunal conflicts, often over scarce resources such as water and pasture.

Economic Marginalization:

Communities here have long been marginalized economically and socially, with limited access to health services, education, and infrastructure.

Cultural Diversity:

The population in these counties is predominantly pastoralist, with rich cultural traditions. However, this way of life is increasingly under threat due to external pressures such as urbanization, land fragmentation, and climate change.

Areas of Operation
CEH's work is deeply rooted in the local contexts of these areas, with programs designed to address their specific needs and challenges.
